Health Coaching 101

Let's talk about Health Coaching, shall we?

Had you asked me 6 months ago if I had ever heard of a Health Coach I would have said no. I had heard of a Life Coach, and you know, a regular coach but not a Health Coach. I looked into it out of curiosity, found the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and with no hesitation in my heart, I knew this was what I wanted to do.

So today I want to go over what Health Coaching is and isn't and what my goals are. Going into this, there were a few things I had a misconception about so maybe by explaining it on this post you can see if Health Coaching is for you, as a client or a career.

Health Coaches hold space for clients to express their needs and provide unconditional presence. We want you to feel supported, encouraged and excited in your journey with health. It shouldn't feel like a drag and it shouldn't feel like another task because the more you make your happiness a priority, the easier it'll be to have a healthy lifestyle. When you become the best version of yourself, you inspire and motivate other people to do the same. Imagine what a beautiful world it would be if we were all vibrating out of love, kindness and joy?

Health Coaches serve as the bridge between clients and other wellness providers. By filling in this gap, we get to inspire and support clients into making healthy lifestyle changes that meet their needs. We're NOT here to tell you what the RIGHT approach to being healthy is because there is no right approach, everything is bio-individual. We can guide you into making healthy choices but what's right for me might not be right for you.

When it comes to serious health issues, we are here to provide you with referrals, implement provider recommendations and to "translate" information. We're not able to give you medicine recommendations or help you treat an illness in a medical standpoint. But we can help you feel supported and motivated to heal from your illness.

When I talk about lifestyle changes, I mean more than just nutrition and physical exercise. I motivate you to look into all aspects of your life, including relationships, career, spirituality, and your home environment, to see what's working or not working in your life. By identifying the things that stress us out or the things that are leading us into making bad choices with our diet, we can start implementing healthy changes that will ultimately have us living a more fulfilling life.

My goal in being a Health Coach is to ease suffering when it comes to chronic diseases. Cancer, diabetes, heart disease, depression, anxiety and more; can all be mostly prevented, treated and recovered from through holistic methods. It all starts with the foods we eat, the thoughts we think and the beliefs we believe. I want to encourage you to be the happiest, most loving person you can be today, tomorrow, and always.

Throughout the next few months, I want to offer anyone who is interested a free Health Coaching session with me! The session will be about an hour long, where we can connect and brainstorm ideas to manage the parts of our lives where things are just not working.
